Mid Valley Hearing Technologies stocks hearing aid batteries at $10 per 6-pack, wax filters at $10 per 8-pack, and microphone guards at $20 per pack, along with domes, tubing, earhooks and sport locks priced from about $5 to $30. Supplies for typical annual use are included in both care plans.
Hearing aids are consumable devices. Filters block, domes tear, tubing hardens and yellows, mic guards clog with dust. None of it is expensive, all of it degrades performance long before it fails outright, and most people wait far too long to replace any of it.

The care-plan math on supplies alone
Typical annual use runs about $100 in filters and batteries plus roughly $60 in microphone guards. That is $160 of consumables before a single cleaning, adjustment or repair. The annual care plan is $400 and includes all of it plus everything else. For anyone who wears hearing aids daily, the plan usually costs less.

Every four to six weeks for most people, sooner if you produce a lot of wax. If the aid has gone quiet or sounds muffled, change the filter before you assume anything is broken.
