Oticon Hearing Aids in McAllen, TX
Oticon takes a deliberately different approach from most of the industry: rather than narrowing in on one voice and suppressing everything else, it tries to give your brain the whole sound scene and let it do the sorting.
Who Oticon are
Oticon calls the philosophy BrainHearing, and the argument behind it is that aggressive directional narrowing makes a room quieter but also makes it harder to notice the person who just started speaking behind you. Their processing uses a deep neural network trained on millions of real sound scenes to preserve and balance the full environment.
Whether it suits you is a personal choice. Some people find open-sound processing more natural and less fatiguing; others prefer the quieter, more focused result Phonak-style narrowing produces. The best way to judge it is to try it in the office.

What we do with Oticon at Mid Valley
We fit and program Oticon, and repair them in-house where the fault allows. If you are trying to decide between the Oticon approach and a more directional one, come in and listen to both. It is a difference you can hear in ten minutes and cannot read about. For ringing in the ears, Tinnitus SoundSupport adds sound therapy with noise and ocean-like sounds.
