Contracted benefit network
Start Hearing Provider in McAllen, TX
Mid Valley Hearing Technologies is a contracted Start Hearing provider. If you have Cigna Healthcare, this is the program Cigna’s 2026 hearing materials point you to.
What Start Hearing is
Start Hearing is a national hearing-benefit administrator affiliated with Starkey, the American manufacturer. Like the other networks, it does not insure you. It manages the hearing benefit that your plan provides, sets pricing, and maintains a provider network.
Starting January 1, 2026, Cigna moved its hearing aid program from Amplifon to Start Hearing. If you used your Cigna hearing benefit before 2026, the process and the provider list you used then may be out of date.

Good to know about the device menu
Start Hearing is affiliated with Starkey, and its menu reflects that. Starkey is a strong manufacturer. It is the only major American-owned one, we fit it directly, and Jordan has trained at their facilities. So this is a case where the network’s house preference and a good clinical outcome overlap more often than not. We will still tell you if your audiogram points somewhere else.

Start Hearing: questions we get asked
Yes, if you last used it before 2026. Cigna moved its hearing aid program from Amplifon to Start Hearing on January 1, 2026, so the network, the provider list and the process are different now. We are contracted with Start Hearing.
Not anymore. Cigna sold its Medicare Advantage business to Health Care Service Corporation in March 2025, and those plans now carry the HealthSpring name. Call the number on your card to ask which hearing vendor your plan uses. If it is one of our four networks, we can help you use the benefit.
They are affiliated. Start Hearing is the benefit-administration network; Starkey is the manufacturer. That relationship is why the device menu leans toward Starkey.
Then your plan documents are out of date, or your specific plan is an exception. Either way, call the member number on your card, or bring it here and we will verify what is in force for you right now.
Not necessarily, but the menu leans that way. We fit seven manufacturers. If your audiogram, dexterity or listening demands point somewhere else, we will say so and show you what that costs.
