Accessibility
We built this site to be easy to use for everyone, including people with hearing loss or low vision.
The standard we follow
This site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.
What we have done
- Large body type. 19px at a 1.72 line height as the baseline, which is well above the usual web default. Headings scale fluidly rather than shrinking on small screens.
- Contrast. Body text, links and buttons are set to meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast against their backgrounds.
- Large touch targets. Buttons are a minimum of 52px tall and navigation targets a minimum of 44px.
- Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element is reachable by keyboard with a visible focus indicator, and a skip link is the first focusable item on every page.
- Screen readers. Semantic headings in order, landmark regions, labeled forms, described images, and ARIA state on the menu and accordions.
- Reduced motion. Animation and scroll effects are disabled when the operating system requests it.
- No audio-dependent content. Nothing on this site requires you to hear anything.
Accessibility in the clinic
There is free parking outside the building, and we offer services in Spanish. We provide written summaries of test results, and we are happy to write things down whenever that helps.
Known gaps
The embedded Google Map is a third-party component and its accessibility is outside our control; the full address and directions are always given in text alongside it. Any PDF documents added later must be checked for tagging before publication.
