Starkey Hearing Aids in McAllen, TX
Starkey is the only major hearing aid manufacturer still American-owned, built in Minnesota, and it is the brand Jordan has the deepest hands-on history with.
Who Starkey are
Starkey has been building hearing aids in Eden Prairie, Minnesota since 1967 and remains independent. Every other major manufacturer is now part of a European or Swiss group. That matters practically for one reason: parts and support come from a US supply chain, which tends to mean shorter turnarounds on factory work.
Their current platforms lean hard into onboard processing and health sensing. Starkey put activity tracking and fall detection into hearing aids before anyone else, which sounds like a gimmick until you have an elderly parent living alone.

What Starkey is good at
- Onboard AI processingTheir Genesis AI platform does a lot of its sound classification on the device rather than leaning on a phone connection.
- Health and activity sensingStep counting, activity monitoring and fall alerts on supported models, and useful for older patients living independently.
- Full style rangeFrom RIC and BTE down to the Picasso custom in-the-ear line, including invisible CIC options.
- Rechargeable and battery optionsBoth, across most of the range, which matters if dexterity is a factor.
What we do with Starkey at Mid Valley
Jordan has trained at manufacturer facilities including Starkey and fits the range regularly. If you have a Starkey bought anywhere (another clinic, a benefit network, out of state), we will clean, program and repair it here. For ringing in the ears, Multiflex Tinnitus adds sound therapy shaped to you at the fitting.
Good to know: Start Hearing, the benefit network that administers Cigna hearing benefits, is affiliated with Starkey. If your coverage runs through Start Hearing, Starkey devices will feature heavily on your menu.
